Every beginner portfolio I see has the same three datasets. What would you put in a portfolio if you were hiring? What makes you stop scrolling, in a good way?
Portfolio projects that are not another Titanic notebook?

Be kind and specific. Read the community guidelines.
Pick a question you really want answered, and a messy source. I would rather see a clear write-up of a small, awkward dataset than a polished chart of a famous one.
Show the plumbing. A project that pulls data from a public API on a schedule, loads it safely so a re-run changes nothing, checks it, and has a few tests tells me you can be trusted with production data.
And a README that says what you decided and why, including what you tried that did not work. That is the part I read first.
Thank you all. I will reconcile two public sources of the same numbers and write about why they differ. That is a real question I actually have.
The article A data portfolio that shows how you think, not just what you built has a checklist for exactly this.
